CEO Tech's Biogas-to-Green Methanol Commercialization Project Lands in Heilongjiang Province

SUIHUA — On July 29, during the signing ceremony for the Suihua Municipal Government-University-Enterprise Strategic Cooperation and the unveiling of the Green Oilfield Collaborative Innovation Center, Shanghai CEO Technology Co., Ltd.(“CEO Tech”) joined hands with the School of Chemical Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and Suihua Chuangyuan Urban Development Investment Co., Ltd. to execute the Framework Agreement on the In-Depth Development of Biomass Resources in Suihua Region. The partnership marks the official commercial deployment of an advanced technology that achieves direct, full-carbon targeted conversion of biogas into green methanol.

As a major agricultural and livestock production hub in China, Suihua generates over 10 million metric tons of biomass waste—including crop straw and livestock manure—annually. According to calculations by Prof. De Chen, Chair Professor at ECUST, Member of the Academia Europaea, and Chief Scientist at CEO Tech, the region holds a renewable fuel equivalent exceeding 2 million metric tons of crude oil, matching the potential scale of a mid-sized oilfield and providing abundant feedstock support for the local green methanol industry.

The proprietary technology was jointly developed by CEO Tech and ECUST. Having completed pilot-scale verification, the process cleared a formal technical appraisal by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) in late June. The evaluation panel recognized the technology as an industry-first pathway for the direct, full-carbon targeted conversion of biogas into green methanol, highlighting its distinct competitive advantages in unit biogas consumption, carbon intensity metrics, and green carbon utilization rates. The core catalysis, process chemistry, and reactor hardware successfully met all rigorous assessment benchmarks.

Under the development roadmap, CEO Tech has engaged with the Beilin District of Suihua to draft a feasibility study report for a bio-natural gas (RNG) project, establishing the foundation for subsequent commercial-scale green methanol refining operations.
