China National Convention Center: A Bridge Connecting the World

A hub for global connections, A catalyst for industrial growth, A launchpad for business partnerships, A window to the world, A force for unity and shared purpose

China National Convention Center is located in the Central Area of Beijing Olympic Park, adjacent to the Bird's Nest, Water Cube, Chinese Academy of History, China National Arts and Crafts Museum, and the Exhibition Hall of the Communist Party of China History. It is the only professional convention and exhibition venue in China situated within a 5A-level scenic area. During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, China National Convention Center served as the fencing hall, International Broadcast Center (IBC), and Main Press Center (MPC), among other functions. After renovation following the Olympic Games, it was officially put into operation in November 2009. The total land area is approximately 12.22 hectares, with a total construction area of about 530,000 square meters. Among this, the main building of the convention center covers 270,000 square meters, and supporting facilities account for about 260,000 square meters, including 2 hotels, 2 office buildings, and commercial structures. China National Convention Center was co-designed by the renowned RMJM architectural firm and Beijing Institute of Architectural Design. It boasts an elegant appearance, with its facade design drawing inspiration from the curved concept of eaves in ancient Chinese architecture—endowing traditional architectural forms with a modern interpretation. Meanwhile, it symbolizes a bridge, embodying the communication and exchange of humanities and information, and reaching towards the future. Adhering to the concept of green design, the building strictly complies with national standards and relevant international standards in all aspects, including greening and environment, natural ventilation, power supply, lighting, central vacuuming, kitchen waste collection, and building materials, thus providing a reference architectural model for the "Green Olympics."
