The National Convention Center is located in the central area of Beijing Olympic Park, close to the Bird's Nest, the Water Cube, the Academy of Chinese History, the China Art Museum and the History Exhibition Hall of the Communist Party of China. It is the only professional exhibition venue located in a 5A scenic spot in China. During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the National Convention Center served as the fencing hall, the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and the Main Press Center (MPC). After the Olympic Games, it was renovated and officially put into operation in November 2009. The total land area is about 12.22 hectares, and the total construction area is about 530,000 square meters. Among them, the main construction area of the conference center is 270,000 square meters, and the construction area of supporting facilities is about 260,000 square meters, including 2 hotels, 2 office buildings and commercial buildings. Jointly designed by the famous RMJM Architects and the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, the National Convention Center has a beautiful appearance. The facade design is derived from the curving concept of eaves in ancient Chinese architecture. The traditional architectural form gives a modern interpretation, and at the same time symbolizes a bridge, reflecting the communication and exchange of humanity and information, and crossing into the future. The building adheres to the concept of green design and strictly implements national and relevant international standards in greening and environment, natural ventilation, power supply, lighting, central vacuuming, kitchen waste collection, building materials and other aspects, providing a valuable architectural model for the "Green Olympics".
